Over the past 20 years, there have been rapid adjustments of work-hour directives for medical professionals with far-reaching consequences in work scheduling and physician training programs. Interestingly, there is a lack of objective data to support these reforms and there is no validated objective measuring tool to analyse the consequences of these changes. The Fit to Perform (FtoP) study group aims to provide validated measurements of both objective and subjective alertness among medical professionals.
